Friends of the San Francisco Public Library Big Book Sale at the Fort Mason Center benefits literacy programs for children, teens and adults and it’s also a book mecca for a bibliophile like myself. It was my first time to the sale and I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many books in one place at one time. In the publishing industry, where the ongoing debate is between eBooks vs. physical books, it was nice to see so many people enthusiastic about books period. And enthusiastic they were - there were long lines stretching from the entrance to the back of the center, people pushing shopping carts filled with books, and happy readers walking out the door clutching bags upon bags of their new found items. And oh yeah, every book costs up to $4 and just $1 on the last day of the sale. Happy reading!
